Saving peace: The case for amending the Egypt-Israel peace treaty

17/04/2013

Thanks to the generosity of the Atkin Foundation, ICSR offers young leaders from Israel and the Arab world the opportunity to come to London for a period of four months, producing a research paper as the result of their work. The purpose of the fellowship is to provide young leaders from Israel and the Arab world with an opportunity to develop their ideas on how to further peace and understanding in the Middle East through research, debate and constructive dialogue in a neutral political environment.

Dareen Khalifa, ICSR’s Winter Atkin Fellow for 2012 made the case in her paper – Saving peace: The case for amending the Egypt-Israel peace treaty – for re-examining and altering the 1979 Egypt-Israel Peace Treaty in light of the recent popular uprising in Egypt and the political changes that are currently sweeping across the region.

Dareen has worked as an Egyptian Consultant, Amnesty International in London. Dareen has previously advised the National Council for Human Rights in Cairo on human rights education and advocacy.Download this paper
