Henry Sweetbaum – Chairman

Henry Sweetbaum is a founder and Trustee of the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation and Political Violence (ICSR). Mr. Sweetbaum was co-founder of Reliance Group Holdings (NYSE) until he moved to the United Kingdom in 1970, when he was appointed Executive Director of the Plessey Company Limited. After leaving Plessey, he successfully engineered turnarounds and achieved financial growth for a number of private and public companies in the US and the UK, including Data Recording Instrument Company, a computer peripherals manufacturer, owned by the British Government, which Mr. Sweetbaum chaired from 1976-1982. From 1982-1986, Mr. Sweetbaum was Chairman of Wickes International Corporation, and in that capacity served as a key member of the team that successfully led Wickes Companies Inc. through the then largest non-railroad Chapter 11 in American history. In 1986, he led the management buyout of Wickes plc and served as Chairman and CEO until 1996. In 1997, he co-founded PS Capital LLC, an American company that advises and invests in companies in Asia, Europe and the U.S.

Mr. Sweetbaum has served as a Non-Executive Director of a number of technology companies. He is presently a member of the Investment Committee of Accelerator Technology Holdings, a private equity firm based in Amman, Jordan and serves as a member of the Inovent Advisory Board, which is affiliated with Sabanci University.

He has published: Restructuring – the Management Challenge (Baden-Fuller 1990) and Best Practices, or Just Best People, (Directors and Boards, Summer 1995 Edition). He is a companion of the British Institute of Management, and has served on various Boards at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, including the Board of Overseers. He guest lectures at the Wharton School and is a member of the Board of the SEI Center for Advanced Studies in Management.
