Bokhari

Laila Bokhari is currently a visiting fellow at the Department of War Studies, King's College London, as well as a research fellow with the Terrorism and Political Violence Project at the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI). Her areas of research include terrorism, radicalisation, radical Islamism and political violence with a particular focus on Pakistan and Afghanistan. She has published various studies and articles on these issues, and is currently working on a book about Islamist militants in Pakistan. In May 2007 she was appointed a member of the Norwegian Foreign Minister's Commission on Security Policy. She is member of the Advisory Board of the Pakistani Institute of Peace Studies, a consultant on radicalisation and violent extremism for the OSCE-ODIHR, a member of the Global Futures Forum (GFF) working group on Radicalisation, and member of a NATO HFM/Task Group on Psychosocial, Organisational and Cultural aspects of Terrorism. Bokhari was from Dec 2006 - Jan 2008 on leave for an assignment with the UN al-Qaida/Taliban Monitoring Team in New York (United Nations Security Council Subsidiary Branch), supporting the 1267 Committee of the Security Council.
