Reuven Paz completed his academic education in Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies at Haifa University, specializing in Islam and modern Islamic thought, and is fluent in written and spoken Arabic.

Most of his studies and research in the past 30 years relate to Islam, Islamic culture, Islamic radicalism, and the development of radical Islamic doctrines. His research combines academic work with extensive field work.

In 2003, he founded the Project for the Research of Islamist Movements (PRISM – www.e-prism.org) in the GLORIA Center at the Interdisciplinary Center, Herzliya, Israel, which he directs. PRISM focuses on research in the field of Islamic radical movements and ideology as well as global Jihad. In 2006, PRISM has launched a special research project for radical Islam in Africa, and in 2007 a research project on Islamist social affairs as well as radical Islam in Central and Latin America.

Reuven Paz has published dozens of articles about Palestinian society and politics as well as global radical Islam. He has provided expert testimony in US court cases on 16 occasions. His forthcoming book (2008) is on “The Mindset and Culture of Global Jihad.”
