Tim Stevens (Guest)

Tim Stevens is a former researcher for ICSR, co-authoring the organisation's report on Countering Online Radicalisation. He is a PhD candidate in the Department of War Studies at King's College London, researching institutional responses to cyber threats, particularly in the US and UK.
His related research interests include cyber strategy, politics and cyberspace, social technologies, violence in virtual worlds, and the nature of the technological accident. Mr. Stevens is a consultant on cyber issues for a variety of government and private sector organisations in the UK and elsewhere, a contributor to a range of magazines and trade journals, and often appears in the media as an expert on conflict and technology issues.
He is a member of the Centre for Science and Security Studies, Insurgency Research Group, Royal United Services Institute, Association of Computing Machinery, and the Association of Internet Researchers. Before beginning a second career in academia, Tim was an archaeologist of wide experience in Europe, Egypt and Central America. He has also undertaken substantial field research in the conflict zones of central Africa. He is an active blogger at Ubiwar, and a contributor to the Complex Terrain Laboratory's Current Intelligence project. Tim lives in London.
