Dr. Olli Ruohomäki is a Senior Advisor specialising on the nexus between security and development with the Department for Development Policy, Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Finland. Among other things he is currently involved in post-conflict reconstruction programmes that the Finnish government is financing in Afghanistan and Nepal. Prior to the current assignment he served as the Deputy Representative of Finland to the Palestinian Territories. In addition, he worked with the United Nations Development Programme in Cambodia in mid-1990s. He earned his PhD from the School of Oriental and African Studies London in 1997. He has published research papers on Southeast Asia, development and security and is a regular columnist to major Finnish newspapers on global affairs.
