Davis PictureThe Right Honourable Terry Davis is the Secretary General of the Council of Europe. He served 28 years in British Parliament and was the official spokesperson for the Labour Party in Parliament on the issues of Finance and Economic Affair, Trade and Industry, and Health. As a leading member of the United Kingdom Delegations to the Council of Europe and Western European Union Assemblies from 1993 to 2004, he worked to protect human rights, extend democracy and promote the rule of law. Secretary General Davis was appointed to Her Majesty's Privy Council in 1999 in recognition of his services to the Council of Europe. In 2004, he was elected Secretary General of the Council of Europe by parliamentarians from 45 Member States. He is a graduate of UCL and achieved his MBA ‘cum summa laude' from the University of Michigan.
