Carmon PictureCol. Res. Yigal Carmon is the President and founder of the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI). Prior to founding MEMRI he was the Director of the Institute for the Study of Terrorism and Political Violence in Washington, DC. Mr. Carmon held a number of positions in the Israeli government and military. As an advisor to Premieres Shamir and Rabin for counter terrorism, he acted as the Chief Coordinator of Israel's national counter-terrorist defence deployment, including cooperation with other governments. He also served as a senior member of the Israeli Delegation to Madrid Peace Conference and participated in peace negotiations with Syria in Madrid and Washington, DC. Mr. Carmon served in the I.D.F. Intelligence Corps from 1964 through 1988.
