Today, thousands of Islamic State (IS) fighters are still held in north-eastern Syria, and two of the group’s most notorious jailors—Alexanda Kotey and El Shafee Elsheikh—await trial in the United States. We ask one of the group’s former hostages, now engaged in the prevention of radicalisation and terrorism, about his experience of captivity and what he thinks should happen next.
This event is co-hosted by ICSR and the RESOLVE Network.
