Atkin Fellows Research Paper Presentations

Our latest Atkin Fellows presented their research papers last week.

Muna Dajani, from Palestine, wrote a paper exploring the possibility of using the environment as a source of co-operation for the Middle East. Her paper looked at using a new conflict resolution tool that would involve environmental peace building. It discusses the possibility of creating a peace park in the disputed area of the Golan Heights, while highlighting both Israeli and Syrian concerns over water resource control and territorial sovereignty.

Gil Murciano, from Israel, focused his research on national honour and its role on Israel’s leadership and strategic decision making during the Second Lebanon War. It also considered how Israel needed to inflict  ‘counter-humiliation’ on Hezbollah during this period.
