ICSR Report Launch – From Daesh to Diaspora: Tracing the Women and Minors of Islamic State
23rd July 2018 ICSR Team
In Events, Seminars

Where: King’s College London

When: Monday July 23rd, 5pm

This event launched a new report by ICSR Senior Research Fellow Dr Joana Cook and Research Fellow Gina Vale. This is the first and largest global dataset of its kind that includes figures for foreign Islamic State (IS) affiliates in Iraq and Syria and returnees, which have official figures broken down for men, women and minors across 80 countries

Among other things, this report finds that women who became affiliated with IS in Iraq/Syria account for 13% of total foreign affiliates globally, but only 4% of returnees. Further, there are confirmed cases of at least 730 infants born to foreign parent(s) inside IS territory.
